Enrollment & Lottery

We currently have a waitlist for several of our grade levels, and students on the waiting list are invited to enroll in the event that openings become available.

Applications for enrollment can be submitted three ways:

1. Online
Click here to complete an application form online. Receipt of your application will be confirmed by email or by phone within 48 hours.

Applications for the 2015-2016 school year must be received by March 4, 2015 in order to be eligible for the lottery.

Random Lottery AXL selects its students by random lottery, held in public during the first week of March. Only those students whose applications are completed in full and received before the application deadline are included in the lottery. Students whose applications are received after the lottery will be added to the existing waiting list.

Wait List Students not selected in the lottery are kept on the waiting list. It is the family’s responsibility to keep AXL updated if contact information changes throughout the year.

District Policy AXL is a public charter school authorized by Aurora Public Schools (APS) and an open enrollment school, like every other public school in Colorado. Priority admissions are given to students who reside within the district. Admission is offered to students residing outside APS only as space permits.

Sibling/Household Policy AXL supports whole families to create a passionate and sustainable school community. Siblings of enrolled students receive priority admissions if their applications are completed and received on time.

Staff Policy Children of people employed by AXL receive priority admissions if their applications are completed and received by the designated deadline. These children may be enrolled regardless of the parent’s ongoing employment and will not exceed 20% of the school’s population. Employees’ children do not participate in the lottery.

PreKindergarten AXL’s PK program includes Expeditionary Learning Curriculum, co-ed bilingual instruction, fully licensed ECE teachers, and a class size of 16 students. The program is open to students who turn 4 by October 1st of the school year in which they plan to enroll. The program is divided into one half-day session: the morning session runs from 8:15am – 11:30am which is our Transitional Kindergarten program and the afternoon PreK session runs from 12:30pm – 3:45pm. There is no PreK on Wednesdays (either session). Tuition is determined using a sliding scale based on family income.  Tuition ranges from $150 – $650 per month.  AXL participates in the Colorado Childcare Assistance Program for families who qualify.
